Lady Gaga: "I'd rather die than be seen out of heels"

It must really suck to be Lady Gaga when you just need to pop down the shops for a loaf of bread. Surely the endless grooming and uncomfortable outfits get to be a bit much?

But we won't be seeing daggy shots of Gaga at Woolies any time soon by the sound of it.

The fashionista pop star says her fellow celebrities are "destroying showbusiness" by allowing the world to see them looking less than perfect. Instead, stars need to follow her lead by being more "mysterious".

"I would rather die than have my fans not see me in a pair of high heels," Gaga tells Jonathan Ross. "I would never give up my wigs and hats for anything."

She adds: "You see legendary people taking out their trash - I think it's destroying showbusiness."

You're setting yourself up for a lifetime in front of the bathroom mirror with that comment, Gaga!

At least she knows how to put on a good show, though. Check out our gallery of Gaga's most memorable outfits...

Update: Gaga says she'd rather die than be seen out of heels, but faced with the potentially deadly symptoms of Deep Vein Thrombosis on a recent flight she had no choice but to lose the heels as her feet swelled to dangerously un-Gaga proportions. Check out the full story...
