Rihanna "embarrassed" that she loved Chris Brown

Rihanna has admitted she's ashamed of herself for returning to boyfriend Chris Brown after he brutally beat her in February.

The pair have since split, with a court-ordered restraining order preventing Chris from contacting Rihanna for the next five years, but in an interview with Diane Sawyer, Rihanna admits she initially forgave Chris for the violent attack.

"I fell in love with this person. That's embarrassing," she says in an interview that aired on Good Morning America yesterday. "

Hinting that she tried to leave Chris "eight or nine" times in the past, Rihanna explains, "It's pretty easy to go back. You start lying to yourself. The physical wounds go away. You want this thing to go away. This is a memory you don't want to ever have again."

But Rihanna reveals it was her love for her fans that made her finally wake up and realise how she could be influencing other women to stay with abusive men.

"When I realised that my selfish decision for love could result in some young girl getting killed, I could not be easy with that part," she says. "I couldn't be responsible for that. Even if Chris never hit me again, who's to say their boyfriend won't? Who's to say they won't kill these girls? I didn't realise how much of an impact I had on these girls' lives until that happened."

Im really sick of Rihanna and whenever its convienent she brings something up.. I dont like her, no big fan, and not offending people who like her, but when she first started releasing songs she was decent, but she's just turned into a famous freak like the rest of them.. Shame.
You leave them, they just go shack up with someone else who will tolerate the abuse or doesn't know about it - or in some cases they shack up with psychopaths who think it's great to take a violent guy and abuse him herself because they get their jollies about being an even bigger abuser. Either way, leaving them is not enough. People have to speak out. Expose who is an abuser. AND more importantly people have to make these abusers understand that NO ONE will accept their behaviour AND do something about the sickos (male and female alike) who support and encourage abusers to be abusive.
I think all women are stupid for staying with a man who hit's you in the first place. Doesn't given any man a right to ever ever touch a woman i don't care how annoying she is, just break up with her that's the only logic thing to do.
i love u chris brown
You SHOULD be ashamed you silly little girl.
what the?
These people are so in love with themselves first Kanye's stunt, then Beyonce's self-love "he was standing up for art" BS and now Rhianna only dumped Chris because of her fans??? What rubbish and how low is your self-esteem that you can't dump the guy because he hit you. "Even if he never hit me again???" There shouldn't EVER be a first time never mind an 'again!' I'm with Georgie....there must be an album release on the horizon!
She has nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of. She has learned a powerful lesson and she needs to be proud of herself for finally breaking free and respecting herself enough to stick with it. May others in her situation have the strength and support to be able to do the same. Remember girls(or guys)ITS NOT YOUR FAULT. The abuser is sick and needs help, but you can't give it to them. Save yourself.
good on her.... it takes a lot to speak out about that sort of abuse... i have been through it all, i was my ex's punching bag for nearly 3 years and like she said it takes a lot to walk away and good on her for doing it... people need to hear her story to truly understand the hardship created in situations like that. i hope she will get over the trauma of it all and move on in a happy and healthy life.
So convenient that this comes at a time when her new album is due --- go the illumanati !!!
