Dannii Minogue had to take a blood test to silence a journalist who threatened to publish claims she was HIV positive.

The Aussie singer revealed details of the blackmail attempt during an interview on British TV.

She says she was sent a bunch of flowers by a journalist along with a note which read: "We have tried to contact you to speak to you with no luck, and if you don't speak to us, we have it on good authority that you're HIV positive and we're running the headline."

Dannii says, "I drove down to my doctor's office, sat there, put my arm out and said, 'I need this test done immediately,' and all I could do was have this piece of paper slapped on their desk to say, 'No I'm not HIV positive, there is no story' - and it quickly and quietly went away."

Dannii says she suspects the rumour started because she was working with an AIDS charity at the time.

"Not many people want to be involved with charities like that, because they want to be involved with the cuddly, nice charities, and this is kind of heavy real-life stuff," she says.

Danni just doesn't stop talking, anything for more publicity. Oh yes of course, how wonderful she brings up she was working with a 'tough' charity, the real deal. Other charities of course are nonsense. Enough Danni, we know you're there.
I do feel sorry for celebrities sometimes. Even if they have chosen this lifestyle themselves they don't deserve half that crap that's dished out to them. These people who blackmail the celebrities are jealous they're not as talanted or rich as them. Good on Dannii for being invloved with the AIDS charity.
Hope she sued him and his employer for every penny they have
So this journalist now knows Danni is not Hiv + but what if she was...big deal if she was. Would it change the person she is ? Its pathetic that these type of journalist would try to damage someones career and make everyone freak because of the word HIV. There is so much ignorance still in this world with HIV and this journalist is just showing a bad example of the ignorance we live in. Hiv is not as bad as it was as it was in the 80s less people are dying from this today and people are now living longer lives. We need to need to see more people being accepted in society today with people living with HIV instead of being judged because they have it. I am glad Danni does not have HIV but even if she did would that make her any different to anyone else out there. This journalist should now donate some money towards a charity with HIV instead of trying to humiliate someone because they are HIV.
This thing is pathetic,no talent and always trying find ways to get in the limelight. SAD SORRY CASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good on you Dannii! Love your work! It's about time journalists start showing artists in the public eye the respect they deserve!
I think she should have let them run the story, have a counter story set to run on the same day ("scandal...X newspaper published groundless story...") with a rival paper and sued the hell out the first one - then given the money to the Aids charity she was working with. I guess she could go ahed now & tell them she'll name and shame if they don't donate themselves.
Are you kidding? Should have let them publish the stupid headline and then sued them!
