Lily Allen embarrassed by autograph hunters, jealous of other pop singers

"Yes, I think I am [shy], actually," she told Elle magazine.

"I get embarrassed when people come up and ask for autographs.

"I think people expect you to have a certain sense of decorum, but I almost find it like being a nursery teacher, having to be nice to people all the time. I haven’t got a problem with that, but I think people expect you to know how to deal with s**t." "I find it odd when people say, “Can I have your autograph?” because, why do you want my autograph? I really can’t figure it out."

Despite being one of the UK's most famous exports in recent years, Lily confessed she was super nervous when her second album was released - as she was scared she had already become yesterday's news.

So scared, she gets jealous when other female singers get props on the radio - and can't be friends with her pop princess peers.

"I get pangs of jealousy when I hear people like radio presenters getting really excited about new music," she confessed.

"I kind of feel like, “Oh, I’m just fading."

"I don’t feel I am in competition with all the other girls. I really feel this is the year of the girl, with La Roux and Little Boots and Florence [Welch of Florence & the Machine].

"Who I really love is La Roux. She’s a friend as well. I find it quite difficult getting on with a lot of [my female competitors] but I really, really like her."

As for her personal life - Lily has learned to keep the details under wraps.

'It’s good…it’s very good, I’m very happy," she said of her current relationship.

" I’m not talking about it any more. Some things are not for public consumption, just don’t want it to be ruined."
