So You Think You Can Dance: Talia wins (sucked in, Charlie)!

, Next

It's the last episode of the year! (Yay!) We finally find out who's Australia's favourite dancer! (Yay!)

The big finale opens with a groutine which features... everybody. Like, for real: the eliminated top 20, along with scores of other unidentified dancers. They dance up a storm, accompanied by the top four who descend from the ceiling on ropes. Wow! Just when I thought I was sick of this show, it impresses me again.

Nat Bass marches out in an almost-see-through dress and a funny wig, and announces the winner of So You Think You Can Dance. Ha ha, just kidding — there's still hours of padding to go before that happens.

She starts off introducing the judges, and shockingly, Jason Coleman doesn't end the season with one of his daft peace signs. What?! That's like Matt Lee not wearing a hat, or Bonnie Lythgoe not saying something that makes no sense.

The top four return to dance a contemporary routine about friendship. I think Talia and Ben are the best of the group, but it's Talia and Charlie who receive the wildest audience screams when it's done. Gee, I wonder who will end up in the final two?

Pad-a-thon! There's a lengthy recap of top 100 week (which includes hilarious footage of Ben as a child fattie); a Kill Bill-ish routine with Lamb in an Uma Thurman yellow jumpsuit; a stunningly choreographed performance from the Pilobolus Dance Theatre; a performance from that weird girl in clown make-up who auditioned for the show; a performance from the Queensland ballet; a performance by the top 10; and a series of performance where the top 4 do favourite routines from throughout the season.

Phew. Props to the producers, who really know how to pad out two hours.

Finally, it's time to get to the verdict... though if you suspected they're going to drag it out, you're right. I'll condense 30 minutes of the show and several more guest performances into a few sentences:

Ben is out. Amy is out. Talia and Charlie are the final two. Gosh, didn't see that coming!

The twosome perform one last dance together: Talia, as expected, is awesome; Charlie, on the other hand, is not the best male dancer left in this competition. He's a great dancer, yes, but he doesn't deserve to win. (Not to mention the fact that he's a clone of last year's winner Jack Chambers. Someone different should win!)

Nat announces the winner. It's Talia. Her mouth curls into an "O" of surprise. Yay! I think she'll do us proud when she performs in the US finale of So You Think You Can Dance.

And that's the show! Thanks to everyone who followed The FIX's recaps (written by someone who definitely doesn't think he can dance). See you next year!

Are you happy that Talia won... or should Charlie have taken the prize? Tell us what you thought of the finale in the comments!

USA show is better don't you think?
I think you were WAY to *** Charlie, he effing RULED. Hes an amazing dancer, and the little jabs at him was uncalled for. I wanted Charlie to win, but I also love Talia! So I was happy either way =)
I am so disapointed she won, Jason C. every chance he could get he would say how bloody *** wonderful she was, it was as close to rigging a competiton as you could get, nobody else got a look in at one point he even declaired she was the winner. And every shot of the dancers offside was of her. I will not be watching it next year. Yes and she is bloody boring.
this show is ththis show is the bomb i am thrilled that she won i was wanted her to win right from the start i watched every epiosde i love this show cant wait to the next series start.e bomb i am thrilled that she won i was wanted her to win right from the start i watched every epiosde i love this show cant wait to the next series start.
I have to agree with Yackk and Johnny. I lost interest by the time the show was down to the top 16 which came as a shock as I was a massive fan of the first series. Congratulations to Talia and wish her all the best, not that I care either way these days.
Did anyone else hear that Talia is going to leave AU to perform overseas? I get that there is more opportunities, but how do you lift the Australian standard if all good talents leaves?
Natalie B sucks. My goodness they need to sack her, her hairdresser and who ever picks out those clothes. She is terrible she isnt funny, she isnt very supportive of the dancers just put it this way she is no Kat like of the USA series. And who the hell voted it for TV logie awards ewwwwwwwwwwww
This show has become dull and the judges are more painful than ever. I wont be tuning in next year unless there is some major shakeups. The format of dance, eliminate, repeat is boring. Look what extremes they went to this year for the biggest loser to spice it up and even it only just passed mustard.
Firstly, the comment about Charlie being likened to Jack, ludicrous! Jack from last season was an amazing dancer and from what people have told me about this series, no one even came close to him. This season was a bitter disappointment. The people from this series really lacked personality which is something the firt series had plenty of. I watched the auditions which I really enjoyed and then the first four episodes of the top 20 and that was enough for me - Sunday became the regular night I went to the movies. I guess the question is how many more SYTYCD, Australian Idols and Biggest Loser series are we going to be subjected to before Australia says enough. I honestly threatened to emigrate from Australia if there was going to be another BB. I wish Channel 10 would seriously review their programming because their lineup aint worth watching. Hopefully, Master Chef can be something a little different because we definitely need it.
Sure, she can dance, so I'm not at all bitter that she won. But oh lordy is she a boring girl. Like, real boring. We didn't need a spoilt princess representing Australia.. I never even heard her abbreviate anything.. and that's the main principle of being Australian But she can dance! Danny is the best though. Charlie is a hoot. Timomatic is what dreams are made of
