When airbrushing attacks

, Prev Next Yikes! Check out this incredibly airbrushed promo poster for the fourth season of Desperate Housewives, slated to return to Australian screens in February:

Now I've seen most episodes of Despies, but I don't remember Teri Hatcher (the middle housewife) having legs 10 times as long as the rest of her body. Nor did I ever notice Nicolette Sheridan's (the blonde second from the left) complete lack of neck, or Felicity Huffman's (on the right) ultra-tangerine legs.

A publicity pic from the first season reveals that the housewives haven't always had such, er, distorted appearances:

Are the housewives really ageing so badly that they need to abuse Photoshop so badly? In the fiery season four poster, half of them look like they've had their heads plonked on pert younger bodies!

This show has NEVER claimed to be based on real life events, so where does it say that the characters have to look real??? Its entertainment - pure and simple. If you don't like the show, don't watch it. But don't condemn people who watch it for having a little bit of frivolity in their lives.
i honestly think they dont need to airbrush the photos. there stunningg girls.
seriously who cares there posters are airbrushed.....they put a gallon of makeup on anywaz wat dif does photoshop make to theor already dif face..........
This is the reason why so many young women strive for perfection it is sending the wrong message. The picture to me just represents what hollywood is all about. Very false.
Reality ..........it's not !! It's a TV show !!! Yes, they do tart up actors to make them look their best. Get a life and just enjoy the show or turn it off.
I'd really like to know the BMI (body mass index) of these women after the airbrushing. Yes its ok for women to look sexy but this is a bit too far. I have no doubt that these women would rate in with a BMI well under the lower end of health score of 18. this causes me to seriously question what message we are sending to kids. Are they seen to be ideal feminine icons or are they figures of self abuse??? Where does health and happiness come into it and when will we as a society put our foot down simular to the way bars were placed on models BMI ratios? As a recovered annorexic this makes me sick!!!!!!!!!!!
Obviously a huge 'female' fan of DH! They are smokin hot! If there are any touch ups......I love it!
One looks like Elvis' wife and another like some really skinny girl off a witch show a few years back. Never seen it, never will, life will not be any different.... If you want desperate housewife's, go down the supermarket, they're everywhere...
If the viewer would watch a show that has "real" people in it than that is how they will be marketed. Could it mean that viewers of this show are superficial and require this sort of approach to be attracted to the show? Pretty people are more popular, sell more (TV after all) and are able to get away with a *** of a lot more in life. Are we still trying to tell ourselves that ugly is equal to pretty? Don't watch the show unless they make promotions and marketing "make-up, airbrush and bull" less. The viewers decide themselves!
That's nothing compared to some pictures I've seen.
