So You Think You Can Dance: top 6 elimination is your last chance to snicker at BJ's nickname

The episode opens with a group routine that is hilariously weird/dramatically intense/off-puttingly avant-garde. (Delete whichever is not appropriate.) After the dance is over, Nat Bass descends onstage in an outfit and hairdo that is stupendously ugly/yawn-inducingly boring.

Nat introduces the judges — Jason greets the crowd with a stupid scissor-snip gesture/an open-palmed wave — who firstly suck up to whoever choreographed the group routine, then complain at length how awful it is to have to say goodbye to another two contestants. At some point, Bonnie says something which makes absolutely no sense.

This week the format of the elimination show changes slightly: instead of the usual "dance for your life", all the remaining contestants dance a solo. Nat makes out like this is a way for the top six to demonstrate why they've come so far in the competition, but really it's just an easy way for the show to pad-out its hour-long run-time.

Without actually having seen any of the solos, I estimate that: Kat tries to prove that she deserves to stay; Amy reveals her undies at some point; Talia is smugly awesome; Ben is goofy and likeable; Charlie gets the crowd pumped up; and BJ (heem "BJ") makes me snicker inappropriately at his nickname.

At this point there is probably about half an hour left in the show, which requires more padding: either a musical guest or an appearance by an established dance troupe. (The official site informs me that it's both: Duffy sings her new single, followed by a performance from Stomp.)

Eventually, it's time to read the verdict. After the top six performance show I predicted that BJ and Kat would be eliminated (not because they were weaker than the other four, but because they've been in the bottom two in the preceding weeks), and my prediction comes true: they're sent packing.

I'm kind of sad to learn that BJ is gone. Firstly, because he's a great dancer. And secondly, whose name am I supposed to chuckle about improperly now? Ben?!
