Zac Efron wants to play Danny in Grease

 2/09/2008 7:20:00 AM, CelebrityFIX Prev Next He certainly has the performance chops - now Zac Efron has his sights set on playing the legendary Danny Zuko in a production of Grease.

High School Musical is pretty much a modern-day Grease, anyway - he was born for the role!

He'd do it on one condition, though - that original blue-eyed bad boy John Travolta was in it.

"If John was involved I'd do it," said Zac. "But without his consent there's no way I could ever attempt a role like that.

"That's too hard, he's just too cool. He's a stud!"

Whether he'll be heading to Rydell High or not, Zac has still got both his feet firmly planted in the musical world, and says that once High School Musical is done, he wants to keep making flicks of the song-and-dance variety.

"I love musicals," he said. "I've noticed that various movie studios want to get involved with making musicals, and I think it's great."

"They're making a comeback and so I think there should be more in the pipeline. Any time there's a musical, I'm up for being on board. It's fun."

There is no way Grease should be remade with a younger cast. What was made , was made. No one can top John Travolta and Olivia Newton John as Danny and Sandy. They were born to play those roles and for anyone to try and play them, it would be an insult to John and Olivia. Their sound and look were unique. I, for one, would not bother seeing it if it were to be remade. You just cannot mess with success.
Dont mess wit it....you cannot re create something that is so classical and captures the imgination You just cant... It'll forever ruin grease...and thats not good
NO ZAC!!! NO NO NO!! Thats just not right!! I swear I wont watch it!! Ill stick to the old one thanx!! Hes a goodie two shoes! And Danny is like a rebel!! They so dont mix! Take it from a 12yr old!! I loved Zac in Hairspray but Grease no way! John Travolta did a great job! I think we should have left Grease as a memorable movie from the days before I was born! so I can tell my kids that the old movies are great to!! In my oppinion Zac should stick to his kiddie movies thanx!

there both great performers, i dont really see the bi deal of zack doing a remake. he did a good job at the remake of hairspray, so i think hell do even better in grease! get a life, all u zack efron haters, u guys r WRONG!
you know what my school did a dance on grease and we came third but can i tell you some thing a girl played john travolta but she is so good every one said she was a boy so i think that zac can not bet her in grease so no way and you dont look that hot to play that roll so i am 9 years old i think that zac is not that hot to play that roll sorry
OH 4 GODS SAKE !! Is there nothing new under the sun !!!??? Why not a remake of "XANADU" then,with maybe Ashlee Simpson depping 4 Livvy Newton-John!!?? Some FRESH concepts people PUHLEEZE !!!
If Zac Efron plays Danny Zuko i'll get a gun, fill it with not only bullets but syringes filled with some horrible toxic acid that burns yours insides, travelling outwards and violently ripping your skin to pieces,and use it too shoot myself, and my DVD player, which will not, i repeat NOT be poisened by that filth. ......But Robert Pattinson would work, okay...no he's not really a bad boy, but...yea, someone hot and not so squeeky clean
Even though Zac efron is hot i think that John Travolta will play a better charater but seriously i can't really picture who is better.
if zac effron goes near grease he should be incaserated, there is no way anyone in their right mind will let that pretty boy ruin grease, the greateset musical of all time, even if it is just a stage show, btw i hate musicals!!
