While Gwyn and Brad split ages ago, Chris still feels like he's trying to live up to Brad in the partner stakes - saying that being married to Brad's ex keeps him "hungry to improve".
“You’ve got to be hungry,” he told Rolling Stone. “If your wife went out with Brad Pitt, you’d want to prove yourself, you know what I mean?”
Chris confessed he's never exactly been a hit with the ladies (which we find extremely hard to believe), saying that he "had a tricky time with girls until I was, like, 21.
"I got trapped in the friendship tip many, many times. It was like, 'I need to be a rock star because this is no good: Being the kind of guy that everybody likes but no one wants to have sex with,'"
"I don't want to be the person that makes everybody laugh before they go off and bang. I want to be the guy that everybody bangs."
Despite this amazing ethos, Chris has only ever had one serious relationship in his life - and that's with Gwyneth.
"Is that weird? I don't think it's that weird," he said. "It wouldn't be weird 200 years ago... Think of Romeo and Juliet."
Instead, he muses that he loves the challenge of being married to the beautiful Oscar-winning actress.
"I always felt it would be great to be with a very powerful woman because it would keep you in your place," he said. "Being married to someone very successful and very powerful basically keeps you hungry to improve."
