Both hard-working Hollywood mothers and organic lifestyle advocates regularly publish recommendations on how to live better, so it is understandable that there might be a bit of competition.
Although, when speaking to the New York Daily News about her new book, The Honest Life: Living Naturally and True to You, the Fantastic Four actress and mother-of-two spoke stepped it up a notch, suggesting that other mothers might find her lifestyle tips more relatable than Gwyneth's because Jessica "didn't grow up with a bunch of money".
You've gotta admit, she's got a point!
"Alicia Silverstone is a vegan, so she's the extreme side of it," she started, citing the Clueless actress who advocates a completely animal-product-free lifestyle.
"Gwyneth Paltrow probably lives a very similar lifestyle, but I didn't grow up with a bunch of money, so my tips are much more grounded: repurposing things and making things at home," Jess continued.
Unlike Jessica, who grew up in a working-class family in suburban California, Gwyneth was raised in a showbiz family in Los Angeles. Also a mother-of-two, her and husband Chris Martin have adopted a low-carb, gluten-free diet in their family, which she also writes about in her book It's All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great. She also publishes a weekly newsletter on her website Goop in which she makes extravagant, high-priced product recommendations.
While Gwyn is running around promoting $240 towels, Jess says the products and lifestyle tips on her website The Honest Company and those in her book are much more affordable and much less extreme.
"I absolutely do these things. That's why I wrote the book," she told the Daily News. "There's lots of options, like delivery services for fresh produce that is organic, if people just want to do a couple of things in the book that are super-easy ...You can take what you want from the book."
