It was the most ridiculed union of the year, so it's no surprise that "Chavril" has been a popular Halloween costume this week, although the person we least expected to don the novelty get-up is Avril Lavigne's ex, Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley.
Teaming up with his girlfriend Ari Cooper (who actually makes Chad Kroeger's Jesus hair look pretty), Deryck sported a blonde multi-hued wig, white hoodie and heavy eyeliner.
Combined with a vacant, pouty expression, he was a dead ringer for the 28-year-old ‘Sk8er Boi’ singer.
Even Nickelback frontman Chad got in on the joke, tweeting this back-handed compliment: "Hey Deryck loved the costumes! We were going to dress up as you guys this year but all the parties had celebrity themes haha!"
He later sent another tweet to Deryck, confirming he was only joking, writing: "You owe us a couples bowling grudge match see you when I get back from Russia!"
Although Deryck and Avril are divorced, they are still friends and musical collaborators, working together on her 2011 album Goodbye Lullaby.
