The 37-year-old was snapped using his phone while humming along on his custom-made vintage motorbike in Malibu.
Like in Australia, California road rules prohibit using a handheld mobile phone while driving any vehicle.
The soccer star also had his driving gloves hanging out of his back pocket.
Maybe he was busy texting wife Victoria, who arrived in New York with one-year-old daughter Harper after a flight from Paris at the weekend.
