The 30-year-old pop star's phone and internet access has reportedly been restricted to prevent her from seeing negative stories about herself on gossip sites, according to RadarOnline.
"Britney's cell phone and internet use is restricted and heavily monitored, and this is done for her protection," a Radar source claimed.
Britney's conservators, fiancé Jason Trawick and her father Jamie, have another motive for protecting the 'Overprotected' singer from the grasp of technology.
"[They] want to make sure that her former manager, Sam Lutfi, isn't able to contact her," Radar's source said.
"Britney and Jason essentially share a cell phone, and it's routinely checked to see who has been calling."
Britney's family apparently don't want her to read "negative stories that would upset her".
The pop star, who has been under a conservatorship for more than four years following her public breakdown, is being protected from her former manager after her restraining order against him expired.
Lutfi reportedly wants Britney to appear in court for questioning about allegedly defamatory statements her parents made about him, and a possible management contract guaranteeing him a cut of her earnings.
With all that going on, and the watchful eyes of the world on her every movement, a bit of device detox may be just the right fix for Britney right now.
We can only hope she hasn't seen this Britney impersonator on The X Factor UK:
