Luckily for us, the embarrassing faux pas was caught on camera at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas at the weekend. Watch and cringe.
After meeting Miley backstage and posing for a few quick snaps, Flavor Flav exclaimed, "Wow! Gwen Stefani!" before a minder politely whispered "That's Miley Cyrus".
Being a man about the situation, Flavor walked back to Miley and asked her to slap him in the face for the mix-up. She obliged as Flavor told her "I love you … and your daddy Billy Ray!"
Admittedly, Miley's newly cropped blonde 'do does have a whiff of the Stefanis about it, and Gwen does look around 20 years younger. No doubt!
Side note: Flavor Flav is 53 years old himself, but you could easily confuse the baseball-cap wearing guy for a younger rapper.
