Ex-royal Sarah Ferguson has publicly lent her support to Duchess Kate.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Fergie called the topless snaps, published in French magazine Closer, "a devastating invasion" of her personal space.
"I have total empathy and sympathy for her. I have been there and know what it's like," Fergie said.
She certainly does. Back in 1992, photos were published featuring the then-Duchess of York poolside, having her toes sucked by businessman John Bryan (aka not her husband Prince Andrew).
"She is a beautiful young woman doing a great job for the country. Why should she be stripped of that moment with her husband?" Fergie asked.
Meanwhile, the Royal Family is asking a different question: Why is Fergie commenting at all?
According to Radar Online, Prince Phillip is furious with the ex-royal, believing she only commented for publicity.
"Prince Phillip is seething with Sarah Ferguson for poking her nose into the Kate Middleton topless picture affair," one close source revealed.
"He thinks she will do anything to save face and get attention, and Phillip has slammed her to other family members."
