The 19-year-old issued a statement to TMZ denying an earlier report that she is a suspect in a criminal battery case.
According to TMZ's original story, a police report was filed by a man claiming to have been hit in the face by the pop star at a Hollywood nightclub on Saturday night.
The alleged victim says he accidentally bumped into 22-year-old Liam's chair, setting off an argument which escalated after the Aussie actor jumped to his feet and squared off with him, prompting Miley to step between them and strike the man in the face as she pushed him away.
A witness told TMZ that they saw the argument, but they didn't see Miley throw a punch.
