Country singer LeAnn Rimes has checked into a mental health facility to cope with "anxiety and stress", People magazine reports.
"This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be," LeAnn told People.
"All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I'm hoping they're not going to affect me as much," she added. "I'll have the tools to know how to deal with them."
It's not a typical "rehab" clinic, according to US site TMZ LeAnn is free to leave on weekends and can use her phone whenever she likes.
LeAnn's husband of one year, actor Eddie Cibrian, has vowed to be by his wife's side during her treatment.
"My wife is the most remarkable and courageous woman I know," the 39-year-old actor told People.
"I am so proud of her for having the strength to finally take some time for herself. I will be with her every step of the way."
LeAnn's rep has denied any speculation that she needs help with substance abuse or an eating disorder.
However, rumours have emerged that LeAnn is suspicious of her husband's fidelity, after the pair infamously cheated on their respective spouses to get together in 2009.
"LeAnn is beyond stressed about the cracks in her relationship with Eddie and she has been really scared that he is cheating on her," a source close to her told Radar Online.
To make matters worse, LeAnn has recently been the target of Twitter bullying by fans calling her "anorexic" and blasting her for being a "home-wrecker" in the marriage of Eddie and ex-wife Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Brandi Glanville (also the mother of Eddie's two children).
"There has been this cyber-bullying that has been going on for a considerable period of time," LeAnn's lawyer Larry Stein told Celebuzz.
"Apparently, most of this started when LeAnn started dating Eddie Cibrian. These women have been merciless ... vitriolic in their attacks."
It's got to the point where users have created a @blockedbyleann Twitter handle tracking the star's "imminent meltdown".
Just a fortnight ago, LeAnn got into a Twitter war of words with follower Laura James.
"You might not want to believe this but your fans hate u and your career is in the s---. While Ed smells like a rose through all of this! Hope you have a prenup because that is all he wanted is your money. Good luck to you," James tweeted.
"Excuse me? I have nothing to 'prove', we are happy and my fans are wonderful and no-one is perfect. All I need to speak to about me and my sins is the good lord," LeAnn responded angrily.
"Remember you can't break what's already broken. I'm not anything like what you read about. It's all lies and anything you've read about no matter who or where it comes from ... well, let's just say it's a game for so many to hurt others. Time to move on, everyone else has."
Eddie's Real Housewife ex Brandi, who previously feuded with LeAnn on Twitter, has a simple response to LeAnn's treatment: "I'm glad she is finally getting help".
Let's hope LeAnn finds what she needs to help her through.
