The decision ends a bitter trial between the 33-year-old singer and his former wife, Tameka Raymond, who divorced in 2009 after two years of marriage.
Hair stylist Tameka didn’t hesitate to voice her opinion on the verdict on Twitter.
“Money can buy many things … But in the end. Truth and goodness will prevail,” she tweeted.
Earlier in the trial she tweeted: “A woman’s loyalty is tested when her man has nothing … A man’s loyalty is tested when he has everything!”
The trial was emotional at times, with Usher crying during testimony and the former spouses hurling accusations at each other.
Tameka said that Usher had used drugs in front of the children and was an absentee dad. Usher called his ex-wife "inattentive and irresponsible" and said she was unable to emotionally bond with them.
She was outspoken throughout the proceedings. In June, she said, "I did not start this. I did not file this. Usher did. I begged him to withdraw the petition, but he didn't listen.”
The mother of five was fighting to keep joint custody and have her monthly child support payments increased.
It has been a difficult period for Tameka. Earlier this year her 11-year-old son from a previous relationship died after a jet-skiing accident. It is reported that she will retain some custodial rights but details about how often will see the children are unclear.
