Robert Pattinson has fled the LA home he shares with Kristen Stewart, reportedly feeling "heartbroken and angry" and not speaking to his girlfriend of three years following the shocking news of her affair with married Snow White director Rupert Sanders, People magazine reports.
To rub salt into the wound, Kristen wore Rob's LA Dodgers baseball cap during her car make-out session with 41-year-old Rupert on July 17 in LA, as revealed in incriminating photographs published by US Weekly on Tuesday.
"It seemed like they couldn't get enough. Kristen was sitting up with her back against the driver's-side window, and this guy was kissing her entire body," an Us Weekly source claimed.
Just days later, Kristen and Rob appeared happy at the Teen Choice Awards on July 22. But there was trouble in paradise.
"I'm not sure they'll be able to recover from this," a People magazine source said.
The 22-year-old actress released a public apology to Rob yesterday.
"This momentary indiscretion has jeopardised the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob," the statement read.
"I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."
The situation couldn't be more awkward considering Rupert bonded with Rob on the set of Snow White.
"Yeah, there was occasionally a guy in the shadows in a baseball cap on set," he told Us Weekly in June.
"Rob and Kristen are both very down-to-earth, very nice people. We all became very close friends."
So much so that Kristen took Rupert's seven-year-old daughter Skyla out for ice cream in Los Angeles in late May, Radar Online reports.
"The affair could have started back then and everyone was blindsided. Why else would you take out a married man's kid for ice cream?" the source opined.
Kristen is writing a private apology to Rupert's British model wife Liberty Ross, expressing "her deepest regret for her actions", according to Radar Online.
Liberty, who has two children with Rupert, treated Kristen "like her own daughter" while playing the part of her mother in Snow White, a close friend told Hollywood Life.
"Liberty is an incredibly sweet, generous person and a dedicated, loving mum and wife. She is devastated, but staying strong for her kids," the source added.
The 33-year-old model hinted at her marital troubles in an interview she gave before the scandal broke, released today in YOU magazine.
"I would never say out loud that I am raising my children alone, but a lot of the time it has felt like that," she revealed.
"I went from the glamour of working with Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano to living on an isolated hilltop, with my husband gone most of the time.
"But that's why everything feels so amazing now. We rode through the really hard times and we stuck it out."
Liberty previously told Celebuzz that Kristen has "something very transfixing about her".
Rupert issued a public apology to his "beautiful wife and heavenly children" in People magazine.
"I love them with all my heart," he said. "I am praying that we can get through this together."
It can't help that new vision has emerged of Kristen and Rupert looking flirty at a cast and crew dinner in Berlin on the promotional trail for Snow White back in May. Watch the revealing footage from Celebrity Bytes:
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has thrown in her two cents about the saga:
"Geez this Kirstew [sic] Rob stuff is brutal. Makes me sad the way press acts. Hope they're OK," the pop star tweeted.
