Watch: Katie and Suri visit the zoo as Tom threatens to sue over abuse claims

It's easy to forget that Suri Cruise really is just a six-year-old girl, not some creepy adult-like vehicle of Scientology, as many mags would have us believe.

Two weeks after Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes split, their daughter Suri has been filmed on a trip to New York Zoo with her mum and grandmother.

Not so happy right now is Suri's dad, Tom Cruise. His name is on just about every magazine cover at the moment, but he was bound to crack over one headline in particular.

The National Enquirer's recent cover story, titled: "Inside Tom's house of horrors", could cost the tabloid mag several million dollars in legal fees.

Tom's long time attorney Bert Fields contacted the publishers today threatening a lawsuit over their claims that the actor "abused" his wife Katie and locked their daughter Suri in a "tiny, windowless room" for five months.

"Your cover announces, as a fact, that 'The real Tom Cruise is a monster'," Tom's attorney writes in a letter to the Enquirer. "Mr. Cruise is certainly not a 'monster'. He is a caring father, a hardworking actor and, above all, an honest, decent man."

Tom's lawyer says he will take the matter to court if the publication doesn't "retract each and every one of your false allegations about Mr. Cruise with the same prominence and emphasis as you gave your original false and defamatory assertions".

He adds, "These disgusting lies about Mr. Cruise will be there for all time, to be read by his children and, someday, his grandchildren."

Speaking of things that are probably lies, a rumour has emerged that Tom's ex Katie Holmes is planning to change their daughter's name.

A "source" told British tabloid Now Daily that Katie "hates" the name Suri and wants to change the six-year-old's name to 'Scout'. She also apparently wants 'Cruise' to be her daughter's middle name, and to change her surname to 'Holmes'.

Er, we'll believe that when it happens!
