So far reports are certain that Katie has retained primary custody over the six-year-old, with Tom having visitation rights, but sources have revealed that there will be some extra conditions when Tom sees his young girl.
"Katie insisted that Suri's nanny and bodyguards always accompany her when she visits Tom," a source closely involved with the settlement told Radar Online.
"Katie did this for several reasons. This will ensure a smooth and easy transition for Suri when she is with Tom."
According to the source, this arrangement is also to stop Suri being further influenced by the Church of Scientology, which Tom is a prominent member of.
"Suri is Katie's number one priority. Tom only has Scientologists that work for him and Katie insisted that her staff will always be with their daughter," the source said.
"Under terms of the settlement, Suri isn't permitted to be exposed to anything Scientology related and this includes going to any Scientology churches, parties, etc. Katie made sure that this was ironclad in the agreement."
Although the details of their settlement are still unconfirmed, the joint statement released by the actors made clear that they were looking out for Suri through the divorce proceedings.
"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's role as parents," the statement said.
Katie's divorce from Tom, after five years of marriage, came as a shock to the entertainment world and even Tom himself who was reportedly "deeply saddened" by the news. However it seems Katie had been planning the split for a while.
Two months prior to the couple's divorce, Katie had fired her stepdaughter Bella Cruise from her clothing line Holmes and Yang, even though there seems to have been no bad blood between the two.
"There was never any trouble between them," a source told Hollywood Reporter. "Bella called Katie 'Mum'. She was fired out of the blue, and once Katie filed for divorce, it all made sense.
"This was a carefully planned ambush. Katie didn't want Bella working for her anymore because she was Tom's kid."
Not only that, Katie has a new film in the works about being … a single mother. The new film, called Molly, will begin shooting next month and wrap up in time for Katie to jump into another flick Responsible Adults with Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford.
