Johnny Depp and French partner Vanessa Paradis have officially announced their separation after 14 years together, following months of speculation.
"Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated," Depp's publicist told Entertainment Tonight.
"Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children."
The couple have two children: Lily-Rose, 13, and John, 9, and divide their time between France and the United States.
The 49-year-old Dark Shadows star told Vogue magazine in 2010 that the pair never felt the need to get married.
"Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don't need somebody to say, okay you're married," he said.
"If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not? But the thing is, I'd be so scared of ruining her last name. She's got such a good last name."
The pair have not attended a public event together since 2010.
Rumours of a potential affair were sparked in February when Johnny was allegedly spotted leaving Ashley Olsen's apartment. Another rumour emerged about Johnny taking a trip to Las Vegas on a private plane with Rum Diary co-star Amber Heard, 26, to promote Dark Shadows in May.
Let's hope it's a clean break for both, unlike these messy celebrity break-ups ...
