In their opening monologue, hosts Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire playfully teased Taylor Swift, who was in the audience, and then moved on to her recent ex, Jake, pretty much calling him gay!
“Don’t make jokes about Taylor Swift,” McEntire warned. “If you make her mad, she’ll write a song about you. She writes songs about guys who break up with her.”
(It's true, she does.)
“Which I don’t understand in the first place. She’s beautiful, she’s talented, she’s sweet. What in the world was Jake Gyllenhaal thinking anyway?” McEntire added, referring to Jake dumping Taylor after three months because there was no spark.
“Wait a minute, he was in Brokeback Mountain,” cracked Shelton.
The audience laughed and cheered wildly over the joke. Meh, Brokeback Mountain jokes are so five years ago.
And gay jokes are so twenty years ago!
