The 84-year-old told the New York Times he spent his youth poring over marriage manuals and sex handbooks, craving a Playboy style publication to teach him all the things he had yet to learn about the opposite sex.
Hef has married twice, and both women cheated on him - the fallout after second wife Kimberly Conrad's infidelity led him to "overcompensate" by dating multiple women at once, and cultivating the Hugh Hefner image he's most famous for.
"I was not well, and I felt my years," Hef said of his last marriage. "During the marriage I was faithful, and she was not."
At one point in the 80s Hef was living with seven women, and trying to enforce a 9pm curfew to keep them from dating anyone else. "You can't make this stuff up," he said.
Hes's 82-year-old assistant, Mary O'Connor, can't believe so many girls are willing to bare all for Hef's iconic pubication.
“You’d think that the well would run dry - the number of people willing to expose themselves by becoming Playmates,” she told the New York Times. “But it doesn’t. It just keeps flowing.”
The Playmates may be in ample supply, but these days Hef only has eyes for 24-year-old fiancee Crystal Harris, who says she spends more time cuddling with Hef on the couch than indulging in sexy Viagra time.
"This is it," Hef said. "This is a very, very special one. I expect to spend the rest of my life with her."
