Reports suggest that the Grammy winner's slimness can be put down to a busy touring schedule and a strict fitness regime.
However, the 24-year-old's on-stage collapse earlier this year is said to have left executives at Interscope concerned about her health.
"She was baffled by the request since the industry usually only wants skinny," an insider told MTV.
"She feels like she almost can't win either way. Her record company said she can't continue moving at breakneck speed without eating. These habits have to end right now."
The news follows claims made in a new biography about chart topper that alleged Gaga's extreme dieting had put her in hospital six times last year.
