The 25-year-old singer posted a message on her Twitter page claiming the shutterbugs had been trying to take pictures up her skirt. “If you cross the line & try an put a lens up my dress, my fiancé will do his job and protect me,” [sic] she wrote as Russell was being booked by police on suspicion of battery.
“Standbyyourman,” she added. “Don’tf***withtheBrands.”
Brand, 35, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday afternoon after a scuffle broke out between the comedian and a photographer.
Russ was heading towards the security barriers at the Delta Departures terminal with Katy when he appeared to become irate with one of the snappers. Video footage of the incident seemed to show the long-haired comedian, who was dressed in his trademark skinny jeans and leather jacket, shoving a photographer out of the way after the paparazzi surrounded him and his fiancé.
The photographer made a citizen’s arrest before airport police stepped in. Brand is due to appear in court over the battery allegation on October 15.
