Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears and Heidi Montag have all spoken out in support of same sex marriage amid the storm of controversy surrounding Miss California's recent anti gay comments.
In case you're not up with the Miss California brouhaha, here's the deal:
Gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton was invited to pose a question to Carrie Prejean, aka Miss California, as part of the Miss USA contest. He asked her how she felt about same sex marriage and she replied that she thought marriage should only be between a man and a woman — an answer that sparked booing from the audience but still won her the runner up spot in the comp.
Now a number of stars have come out to Tweet their support for Perez and his cause.
The Hills star Heidi Montag Twittered to Perez: "I know in my heart that gays and lesbians should have the same government rights that Spencer and I will when we get married. So, yes, this blonde Christian believes in gay marriage and I hope to one day go to YOUR wedding, Perez!!!"
Britney Spears passed on the simple comment: "Love is love! People should be able to do whatever makes them happy!"
And 16-year-old Disney starlet Miley Cyrus has been bombarding Perez with messages of support.
"Jesus loves you AND your partner and wants you to know how much he cares!" she told him. "Thats like a daddy not loving his lil boy cuz hes gay and that is WRONG and very sad! like i said everyone deserves to be happy."
In a second Tweet she added: "i am a christian and i love you [Perez] - gay or not. BECAUSE you are no different [than] anyone else! we are all gods children! i am not saying this so would be nice on your site (though that would be nice jk;) but because the LORD has spoken 'love cuz god loves'."
