New couple alert! Britney and Benji are dating… thanks to Britney's dad

Britney Spears has pretty much got her life back on track now but her dad (and court appointed guardian) Jamie is still helping her with the big decisions… like who she should date.

InTouch reports that Papa Spears recently made up a list of suitable boyfriends for his newly divorced daughter. The wish-list included the likes of Chace Crawford, Jesse Metcalf, Michael Phelps and Benji Madden. (We say wish-list because surely he was dreaming when he came up with those names!)

That said, Britney's people contacted her potential new boyfriends' people and whadyaknow… Benji took the bait!

The Good Charlotte singer just recently broke up with Britney's ex-bestie Paris Hilton, and it looks like he's keen to pick up the reins with another blonde bombshell.

According to InTouch, Britney and Benji have seen each other a number of times and they're getting on really well!

“They’ve been on a few dates," says a source. "They met once at The Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills for dinner in a hotel suite. She appears to like Benji a lot, and he seems to really like her.”

Meanwhile, news of Benji and Britney's secret tryst has reached Paris Hilton's ears and a source says she "literally saw red" when she first heard.

Literally saw red, eh? She should get that seen to.

It's pretty funny how Good Charlotte bashes the social elite etc in their songs and comments on how up themselves and stupid these blonde bimbos are yet between the two brothers, they have dated every single one of the Hollywood tarts we associate with being fake, annoying and shallow.

i agree with cel.. i use to love good charlotte and in their songs they do say stuff bout ppl being fake and saying that the rich and famous wouldnt be able to survive being a normal person.. bet they are loving their life now.. joel was once djing at a club i go to and he called us all white trailer trash.. huh.. pfft whatever
i dont think britney could go through anymore unhappiness then she has in the past 2 ta 3 years, i've had a son die so i know what its like to have your child taken away from you... If this is britneys chance to finally be with someone our really cares about her, then go for it.... she has nothing to lose and nothing to gain but love. her father is only out to protect her and there is nothing wrong with that, gee's i wish he were my dad...

I'm really happy for brit. She's got her life back and found a new partner. I'm happy her parents and family have woken up and helped brit all the way. Plus, her new songs are catchy =] I still think she has little more work to do, but she's definetly impressed me =]

i think it is great that britney is moveing on with her live she has her family support with very thing she does i thing a bit more pepole like britney should just do the same thing and move on with their lives
britney should not go out with any friends x, as that is a territory no one should ever go to even if they are no longer friends. look at his past record- thought she was trying to get back on track? britneys dad should get a life of his own and *** out of hers. ye be her manager- but not her match maker. you are just starting to get a good rep again girl- get a grip and go alone for a while or your life will hit the skids again!!!!
