Kristen Stewart has issued a public apology to boyfriend and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson for cheating on him with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.
Us Weekly broke the news about the alleged affair, publishing photos of the 22-year-old actress kissing the 41-year-old married man.
"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected," Kristen's statement read.
"This momentary indiscretion has jeopardised the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."
Rupert, who has two children with British model wife Liberty Ross, has also issued an apology.
"I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family," the statement read.
"My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."
People magazine's source reported it was not an "affair", but rather "a fleeting moment that shouldn't have happened".
The sparks were definitely flying when we interviewed Kristen and Rupert last month on the promo trail for Snow White. Rupert admiringly called Kristen "wild" and "rebellious" after an awkward moment between the pair, watch below:
No word from R-Pattz's camp yet about whether or not he will accept Kristen's apology, but Radar Online reports that Kristen will do whatever it takes to get her man back.
"Kristen is doing everything in her power to keep Rob from breaking up with her," a source close to Kristen told Radar Online.
"She knows how much he loves her and she really believes that she is going to keep him from dumping her."
Rupert's wife Liberty, who played Snow White's mother in the first film, deleted her Twitter account after the allegations about the affair emerged.
Her final tweet, posted right after US Weekly called her husband for a statement, read just one word: "Wow".
The scandal could make for more awkward moments on the set of the Snow White sequel, which Rupert is slated to direct.
